Abstract:

Newborns generally lose a little bit of weight after they are born, but mothers often wonder if their new babies are getting enough nourishment. This worry is especially compounded for mothers who breastfeed because they can't count the ounces of milk that their babies are eating daily. In order to ease your worry, download this handy breastfeeding log to help guage your baby's daily breastmilk intake during the first week. Hint: In order to print out the Baby's First Week Daily Breastfeeding Log without the extra menus and information, click on the "Printer Friendly" link at the bottom of the article.

I just absolutely loved this chart when they gave it to me at the hospital the day after my baby was born. Becuase I was exclusively breastfeeding, it was impossible for me to detemine just how much milk my newborn was getting and I kept worrying that he wasn't getting enough to eat.

After I got home from the hospital, I carried this table around with me everywhere and even made my husband fill it out!

This was really the only thing that helped to set my mind at ease that my baby was, indeed, getting the nourishment that he needed. This fact was supported at his 1 week checkup when they weighed him and found that he had hardly lost any weight!

Because I loved this tool so much, I had to share it with all of you. I hope it helps you as much as it has me.
